A new year comes
And I'm so tired
I'm so afraid the worst is yet to come
I've got some hope
'Cause it's required
But it is hard to drum up
The enthusiasm
After the past year beat me down
It won the battle and then some
Most days I'm numb
But mostly functional
A new year starts
With resolutions
I used to stay up
Dreaming through the night
Of grand success
Of evolution
And recognition I would take in stride
But after waves came crashing down
I'm simply trying not drown
It's hard enough to get things done
Without the pressure and the hype
But if I take another step

I'm gonna make a different map
With many wonders to discover
January, February
I'll be counting one two three
Down a path I cannot see
Move my feet steadily

Who didn't make it
