Come Of Age

Lucy Ellis

Composición de: Lucy Ellis
The Sun, this morning rose
Over a box of unused clothes
And then September came above
And started leaking summer rain
The day left me behind in bed
I looked to all the clouds and said
You look a little different this year, why the sudden change?

Tapping on my window, push my finger through the glass
I make another friend as I am watching old ones pass
I'm planning for tomorrow just to be another day
The Sun shines just as brightly when I look the other way
And every night I sleep to dream for courage on the stage
And, in my dream, I have another chance to come of age

My pillow was so soft and deep
I walked back to the edge of sleep
The clouds, the rain, the grey
All turned to dust upon my shelf
A picture of a memory
They settled on and said to me
It's been a few Septembers
And you've changed a bit yourself

Tapping on my window, push my finger through the glass
I make another friend as I am watching old ones pass
I'm planning for tomorrow just to be another day
The Sun shines just as brightly when I look the other way
And every night I sleep to dream for courage on the stage
And, in my dream, I have another chance to come of age

And I woke up again that day
I sleep to dream the rain away
The Sun left me behind, but I'll stay here a little while
And all the space inside of me is waiting for a memory
For next year, I may wake up to September with a smile

Tapping on my window, push my finger through the glass
I make another friend, as I am watching old ones pass
I'm planning for tomorrow just to be another day
The Sun shines just as brightly when I look the other way
And every night I sleep to dream for courage on the stage
And, in my dream, I have another chance to come of age
