Just Before the Fall

Paper Scars

Composición de: Gabriel de Abreu
She'd been walking for far too long
Balancing on a tightrope line
You could see it in her eyes, in her shoulders
Smiling was getting harder to find

Her sky-colored eyes held back the flood
Always on the edge, ready to overflow
It’s hard to see an angel with broken wings
I never truly knew how she felt inside

But I was there, I could’ve stopped it
I wished I had the power to change her world
But I wasn’t him, I couldn’t save her
I just watched her fading from that face I knew

Just before the fall
She vanished into the void
But she didn’t break when she hit the ground
She was already too broken down
Just before the fall

I know I'm a monster for letting go
For watching that angel fall and break below
Her wings were cut when we left her there
But I only thought of me, of what I wanted

I thought it was love, but it was selfishness
When angels fall, what do they become?
Almost never something good, I knew it
But I ignored it, I wanted her for myself
And still, I let her fall

Just before the fall
She vanished into the void
But she didn’t break when she hit the ground
She was already too broken down
Just before the fall

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Just before the fall
