Growing up, I didn't fit in with the other flying monkeys

I could flap but couldn't (fly)
Everybody else could (fly)
Don't know why I couldn't (fly!)
Thought my wings were such a (curse!)
And this had to be a (first!)
I would sit and wonder (why!)
So one lucky day when I met a wise (other!)
Who became my friend and my first drag (mother!)
And I showed her how to (tuck!)
And to walk that fucking (duck!)
And to suck it up, just (try!)
In that moment then I (found)
What had been keeping me (down)
And I lept into the (sky!)
I found a friend who understood
The power of drag and sisterhood
Now there's no can't, there's only could, and
I have been changed
For better!
