Painting Lillies

Pushed forward in conversation
How the circus came to town
Hiding in different places
To see the lights burn out

But it's been so long
Since I saw you painting lillies
Coloured purple on the grey desert ground
And it's been too long Since I let you fall within me
It must be hard when there's no-one around

Winter casts a spell over the ground
Keeping Summer locked away
Can you tell me why we disappear each night
When the streetlights lead the way in spite of all this rain..

And I don't believe I've seen the moon shine so bright
Or the way you hung your head as the stars came out tonight
It's all for claiming once that you were out of sight
But I can't remember December anymore

But it's been so long
Since I saw you painting lillies

So leave all your jealousy
And take me from this fantasy
Cos I thought I saw the oceans rise
Through the burning embers of your eyes

But I put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can take it
And I know there's no wrong
Down the path that you have taken
But I don't want to feel alone
By this point that you are making
So I wish that you'd come home
And I can't believe my fate
