Separate Lives

"Friends for life," they said
"Always write," they said
Now the days have turned in to years
Who can remember when the other was near?
"How did we let it slip away?
Are we lost or did we find the way?"

And they said,"We're leading separate lives
Tomorrow just isn't what we want it to be"
And they have spent the whole of their lives wondering
"Did I do right by me?"

[For so long I wanted to see you, for so long]

"When I grow up," they said
"The things I want," they said
"We'll have houses all in a row
Go to parties that each other will throw
We'll get married and we'll have a career, make a family
See each other each year"

But then the first moved away
The next one left
The other stayed...
