One day I listened to a really cool song
I did fine when I was playing along
I didn't know to whom it really belonged
But in order to rock, I thought of writing my own
And I knew I wouldn't do that alone
So, right away, I called my band on the phone

And they all came over to write our gig
We thought we'd jam a blast and we would hit it big
But we just stuck to jamming and wasted time
We didn't write a verse or even land a rhyme
So then I asked a friend for help
And this is what he said

First thing the next day, we reunited the band

We wrote a hit, it turned out just as we'd planned

And we played our new song again and again
We practiced day and night, we made it to the end
Our hit went big, it turned out pretty nice
Although it was quite hard, and we did try twice
But we never would have made it
