In the waking hour
I hear the Jester's song
Everything I've dreamed of
It brings my spirit home

He can take your sadness
And turn it into a dream
He can take all the madness
And let it out in a scream
He can take your suffering
And wash away all your tears
He can take what you're hiding
And bring it out in the clear

The stillness of the morning
The breath of days gone by
Awakened from a restless sleep
He hears the children's cries
The children gasp in wonder
As the jester holds their gaze
He wields magic and illusion
To bewilder and amaze

With a broken smile
And an empty heart
He will make you
Laugh out loud
But the emptiness
That his heart now feels
Makes him cower
From the crowd

A Jester in the waking hour
Of innocence
A fool who feeds on
Laughter from the heart

Tossing, turning
Twisting, burning
Wasted years in the Jester's life
A modern day Moses
Leads you to the Promised Land
Just a spiritual illusion
Left with nothing in his hands
The Jester on the outside
Hides a tearful soul
And with every passing moment
He seems to lose control

As the permanent midnight
Paints the evening sky
And the darkness falls over you
He will lead you to sunlight
He will promise no fear
When it seems there is
Nothing left you can do
