Graveyards

American Steel

    Continues after the ad

It's not your fault that for years I've daydreamed
    In tragedy and eulogy
But this is a declaration of friendship
And a document of my fears
All of my words add up to nothing
It's your broken heart that you have to live with
I can no more convince you to stay alive
Than I could take the sadness from your eyes or a gun from your hand

And so if this is the last time that we part let us part well
God knows I've given you enough sermons over the years
But give me a reason why I should go it alone
    When it's partly your fault
That I've come to depend on you
All my words are sharpened with sorrow
    Believing you'll be gone tomorrow

    Continues after the ad

It's the rattle and crawl of loneliness inside
That keeps me staying, keeps me pleading
    It's a sellout and a hollow death
But it's your life and choice to make
I'm pointing fingers and calling you selfish
But realizing I am selfish too
The graveyards are already littered with those that I love
And I don't want to lose anymore

And so if this is the last time that we part let us part well
God knows I've given you enough sermons over the years
But give me a reason why I should go it alone
    When it's partly your fault
That I've come to depend on you
All my words are sharpened with sorrow
    Believing you'll be gone tomorrow

    I'm just scared...
I don't want to live without you
