For I Was Far

This is my story, my testimony
Filled with redemption, a life with hope
I can’t be silent when I think about it
My undeserving heart it overthrows

For I was far away and dead in sin
I had no hope at all to live again
And then you came and drew me close in love
You washed away my guilt and filthy stains

You took this broken, unworthy servant
Made new in mercy, you call me friend
I just can’t hide it, I have to shout it
I will be singing till the end

I am a pilgrim, a stranger on earth
Keeping my eyes fixed upon the prize
I sing this song to remind my heart of
The grace forever found before your eyes

And when the day breaks, and heaven’s life weighs
My soul to look on the one I love
My heart will burst forth in rapture’s praises
My thankful heart I give this worthy one
