I dreamed I bought the house across the street from yours,
With a sunken living room and big red doors
Your kitchen window opened up to the street
And i'd search for a glimpse of you to put my mind at ease

I was always in the driveway
With my eyes fixed right on you

I noticed in the dream I never went inside
Even though my little house filled my heart with pride
Instead I'd stand my ground when the rains would come
Dry my hair in the afternoon sun

I dreamed you pulled up in your car to your garage
But this time you walked toward me and lingered in the yard
Then you locked eyes on me and grinned as if to say
That you felt better knowing I would never stray

You finally broke your stare and went on in
But by the second window down- you checked on me again
I looked at myself as I laid my body down
My dream had turned into your loyal hound
