Sometimes life is like falling off a building and you wake just before you hit the ground
Sometimes life is like running from a monster whose heart you can almost hear pound
Sometimes life feels like taking a test that you didn't know was happening til then
Sometimes life is just like washing dishes and the stack on the counter never ends

Sometimes dreams are beautiful adventures and you fly over cities in the dark
Sometimes you are sinking in an ocean and you feel the lurk of a shark
Sometimes dreams- they end too soon- so you try to will the whole thing back again
Some dreams all you do is wash the dishes but the stack on the counter never ends

Some people seem familiar the moment that you meet
That happens both in life and in dreams
And when you are together you feel like you've been seen

Sometimes love is for someone that you trust but their face changes right before your eyes
Sometimes love is deepest in a dreams but it's all an invention of your mind
Sometimes love is a true give and take- you get back as much as you put in
And sometimes love is just like washing dishes where the stack on the counter never ends

Some people seem familiar the moment that you meet
That happens both in life and in dreams
They change you for the better- that's what you've done for me
That’s what you’ve done for me

Some debts get paid by returning equal favors and, of course, some never get paid
Some will burn with Karma, so they say, that's a chance I'm not willing to take
You've filled my plate with more than I deserve- I’ll never turn away the kindness of a friend
So for now you'll find me here washing dishes because this stack on the counter never ends
