Broken Chains

Don't know when it started but I heard who was to blame
It seems a man named Adam has brought me all this pain
Like my father's before me I was shackled to the past
Tryin' hard to break away gettin' nowhere fast
Then Jesus came and set this captive free now looking back I can see
Broken chains broken chains evidence of freedom and the power of his name
Broken chains broken chains reminders of his mercy and grace I can't explain
Oh yesterday has no hold on me cause I can clearly see broken chains

I don't know how he did it hung there on the cross
He could have simply walked away for him there'd be no loss
But with his eyes upon me he looked right through the pain
Freedom for this prisoner his cross would be my gain
Yes Jesus came and set this captive free now looking back I can see

Just think what's gonna happen think how it will feel
When Jesus gets his hands on those old cold rings of steel
