Spirit laid low if only I'd have known
What lay ahead of me
Path of uncertainty
Dreams and reality split further out of reach

Broken and blinded by the crueler kind
My doubt was convincing my insecurity
Good only comes to those who are deserving

Taught to fear and hate what is different
They only act out what they know
So much misfortune starts to take its toll
Somber to find that I'm alone

Oh, watch me dance like blue flames
On the graves of those responsible
Envy, cruelty and greed
I've known all three

None are incorruptible
Star-like I rise bathed in sunlight
I am reborn

Is not allowed
I'll take away your dreams
Your hopes will be destroyed

Light in the dark we all must play our part
I'd rather break the mould
Find meaning in this void
I've turned my back on the lies that we are sold

Dark pit of snakes I won't accept this fate
And through the tears I see
My truth, my destiny
Those wild fantasies now within my reach

Sometimes the world knocks us down
Tells us that it's on our knees that we should stay
And sometimes those who we consider our foundations
Can crumble to dust beneath our feet
But you cannot let this world end your hope

Show them that you're not just another pawn
Not a disposable piece of their greater plan

But each time we are it's necessary to die a little
Whenever we have to kill the past
To move forward and claim our place in this world

Longing for innocence lost through the years
Traded for knowledge and hard truths
