Fenrir, the Giant Wolf

Odin learned of a prophecy that a giant wolf
Would be responsible for destruction of the world
The Gods though they had nothing to worry
But when they saw one day how he had grown

    Fear and despair surrounding everywhere

Saying the wolf was weak, Fenrir accepted a challenge
Let the gods chain him to prove his power of choice
He was so immensely strong that he managed to break the strongest fetters
    As if they were nothing

    Fear and despair surrounding everywhere

The only alternative left was a magic chain
The Gods ordered the dwarves to make something strong enough to hold the wolf
Gleipnir was created for this purpose, to tie the giant wolf

    Fenrir agreed to be tied
Thinking that his strength would be doubted
Suspecting treachery he ordered the gods one of them to put a hand between his jaws
Tyr agreed to do it, and the gods chained the wolf

    Fenrir, the giant wolf
Son of Loki, the feared God
    His howl downs the hills
His open jaws nights the day

Fenrir struggled but he could not escape
Then in revenge, he bit off Tyr's hand
The sacrifice however saved them all
The peace was settled again but not for too long

    Fear and despair surrounding everywhere

Fenrir was chained to a rock a mile down into the earth
With a sword between his jaws to prevent him from biting

    On the day of Ragnarok
Fenrir will break his chains and join the giants in their battle against the gods
He will seek out Odin and devour him

    Fenrir, the giant wolf
Son of Loki, the feared God
    His howl downs the hills
His open jaws nights the day
