It's Always So Late

Nine til midnight
Eyes traced the lines on the wall
Two steps from forever
Two steps until I
Until I fall
Until I fall

Trying to stay awake
I'll miss something if I don't
Hoping that they'll say something
But sadly I know they won't

These walls are only so thick
Like you and I they're fake
Some one needs to come around,
But who knows how long that could take
There are cupboards here that hold plates
They break and so do fragile hearts
But who knows how to stop the tears
Or when it's right
To start

Why is it that when I close my eyes
I see it's black?
And even though I can say the words are one
I always had to
I had to take them back
I'll lock myself inside this room
Because there's nowhere to hide
I'll sleep away the happiness
With lonliness by my side

And time's not on my side
It's not like it ever was
Barefoot like my soul
Walking through broken glass
On a one-way road to nowhere
Falling leaves, lead the way

We'll be like those withered leaves soon
With some voice I'll say
Take your time with innocence,
Then maybe you will see
Life is full of hate, not for discovering
Cause questions lead to more
Of the same things, you know it
Nowhere fast

The future isn't something worth worrying about
If you're still stuck in the past
