In 1947, it was the number-one song on Billboard's "Honor Roll of Hits" and became a runaway pop sensation. In 1967, Bob Dylan and The Band recorded an homage to the song as part of The Basement Tapes. Entitled "Open the Door, Homer", the chorus nevertheless repeated the phrase "Open the door Richard."E|E|E|E|-------------------------- E|---------------------------------- E|---------------||||capo: 1st fret play: A key: BbE|E|E|E|-------------------------- E|---------------------------------- E|---------------||||[Intro]| A | % | % | % | (fade in) [Verse 1]A Now, there’s a certain thingF#m That I learned from JimA That he’d always make sure I’dE understandContinúa después del anuncioA And that is that there’s a certain wayF#m We all must swimD If we expect to live offE Of the fat of the land [Chorus]Bm Open the door, RichardBm I’ve heard it said beforeBm Open the door, RichardBm I’ve heard it said beforeD | But I ain’t gonna hear it said noA | % | % | % | more [Verse 2]A Now, there’s a certain thingF#m That I learned from my friend, MouseA E A fella who never blushesA And that is that oneF#m Must always flush out his houseD If he don’t expect to be housingE flushes [Chorus]Bm Open the door, RichardBm I’ve heard it said beforeBm Open the door, RichardBm I’ve heard it said beforeD | But I ain’t gonna hear it said noA | % | % | % | more [Verse 3]A “Take care of all of yourF#m memories”, said MickA E “For you cannot relive themA And remember when you’re out thereF#m Tryin’ to heal the sickD E That you must always first forgive them” [Chorus]Bm Open the door, RichardBm I’ve heard it said beforeBm Open the door, RichardBm I’ve heard it said beforeD [ But I ain’t gonna hear it said noA ] more
