Come what may I will proceed
To thread the path of duty
The path that leads across the fields
Through hedge into the hills

Steep is the path, and strewn with stones:
The work of giants and their kin
Who left behind a blinding labyrinth
A maze of shadows and false leads

To walk the path of beauty
The path that reaches into the heights
That seem to touch the sky

Steep is the path, but filled with light
From those who climbed before me
Who left on every jutting rock
A lantern glowing with their dreams

Come what may I will proceed
To climb the steps of the holy
Whose journey leads across the bridge:
The rainbow to the pole

Steep is the path, and laced with the dread
Of those who never found the way
Their broken bodies now on cold ground
A nameless legion of lost souls

Steep is the path, but filled with light
