Winn Dixie Ring

The summer when I was 6 years old I saw her for the first time.
She was wearing a white denim jacket and roller-skates.
I hid in a bush so I could watch her unobtrusively
And when we made friends three days later (which seemed like an eternity to me)
I asked her if shed marry me one day
With a Winn Dixie ring
In a plastic bubble was the wire setting
And in that wire setting was a plastic stone
Maybe a ruby
Or something like that
All that I remember is that she told me no.
And when we met up twelve years later (which seems like an eternity to me)
She told me that she still remembers
And she still has
the Winn Dixie ring.
