Through transubstantiation they come to claim your soul
With blood and tears and promises they leave you less than whole
Then let them put your innocence to fire and to the sword
While inattentive children sing the praises of an inattentive lord

To walk between the pillars from darkness into light
The glory and the kingdom and the power to be right
Draw secret signs and hieroglyphs in wine and salt and sand
While trembling initiates make responses that they barely understand
In the houses of the holy

Dancing in the circle more than naked, less than free
Bound by dreams and visions of what you need to be
Sublimating reason with a deep and ancient fear
Return to superstition, casting out the demons that you once held dear
In the houses of the holy

And all the gods and goddesses of candlelight and green
Will hang their heads and weep for all the things that might have been
The few who know and understand the truth will mourn and grieve
Its not belief that shames the world but the actions of the people who believe
