A Velleity

In a light never seen
Manifested in daydreams
My story is one you may forget tomorrow
I’ll cease to exist alongside failures and sorrow

To leave them behind and settle in
Have a space to survive in
Now move along
That cold room is speckled with mould
It was hard let go
To settle in
Do I re-fire? Relight a flame?

I was one to regret the night
Then wear my shame

Can I cope with the taste
Of passing by the quieter days
Say goodbye
But what have I left? And sacrificed

Now, I reminisce
(And) hope the final light’s the brightest and screens the last abyss
