Always had reaseons to shut people out
The seemingly silent, the buzz of a crowd
Knowing that now one could touch this monster I'd become

Calluses and lost in a world I don't belong
Looking for purpose in the notes of a song
A melody laced with the hope and pain of one still heart

One hundred people, I only hear ninety-nine
Didn't expect it
Looking in your direction
And it's my demise

You looked at me
And I couldn't believe that an angel had come just to sit here with me

And I, tried and tried but I just couldn't read you
Silence never sounded sweeter

Outside a door that I don't have the key to but
Somehow it's comforting knowing I don't need
To fight with the wind in a batter just to keep it shut

Suddenly I am consumed by the questions usually
Solved with the answers not requested but
You gave me pause and a moment to remember my own voice
