A E Old Badger was an outlaw that no man could ever ride E A So tough the devil's pitchfork couldn't penetrate his hide A D To beat him was the dream of every cowboy in the land E A But try they might, sure as right they'd wind up end the sand [Verse 2] A E A brag came up from Texas by the name of Two Oaks Tall E A Was out to get old Badger cause old Two Oaks rode 'em all A D He said he'd tie a granny knot in Badger's twistin' tail E A So thousands came to stake his claim or to see how bad he'd fail [Verse 3] A E A mighty crowd had gathered with old Badger in the chute E A The stirrups felt the goading weight of Two Oaks heavy boots A D Then the chute swang open and the crowd began to roar E A Tall's shirttail beat upon the seat like waves upon a shore [Verse 4] B F# They circled that arena, Badger bawlin' out his hate F# B But Tall stuck in the saddle like his tail was made of paste B E Badger then exploded as his hooves beat on the air F# B But Tall did stay like childrens play in Grandma's rockin' chair [Verse 5] B F# The outlaw's eyes were blazin', old Tall's face was turnin' red F# B They'd take off to the right but wind up goin' left instead B E They busted through the fence and crashed the stillness of the night F# B They filled the air with dust and hair and vanished out of sight [Verse 6] C G Some say they died of thirst and time has turned them to stone G C Others say they withered and the buzzards picked their bones C F But somewhere on that prairie is a scene we all ain't saw G C Did Tall get throwed or Badger rode or was it called a draw?
