Falling Petals

A field of roses
Burned to grey
The Sun forgot to end the day
Each petal falls a heavy sigh
I watched the garden learn to die

You were the rain
I was the stone
Softly carving
Carving home

Now the sky won't weep
It just stares
A heart once blooming
Now laid bare
If love was soil
It turned to sand
Slipping through my open hand
