Mother Tree

I was born in the strangest time
I had no roots that i could find
People living in rows and lines
Started me digging

Say, where oh where's the forgotten tree
The many branches of humanity
Whose roots come down to you and me
Why is it hidden?

From the andes up to the northern rockies
I will not stop 'til i find me the mother tree

Well our tongues were tied and our hands were bound
People robbed of common ground
When the new boss came to town
The old ways started dying

I looked for clues but what i heard
Was truth twisted, history blurred
Divide the people, conquer the world
But the tree survived
