G D Dear Sir I write this note to youG to tell you of my plightC For at the time of writing it I'mG D not a pretty sightC G My body is all black and blue, myD Em face a deathly greyG C And I write this note to say why ID G am not at work todayG While working on the fourteenthD G floor some bricks I had to clearC G But tossing them down from such aD height was not a good ideaC G The foreman wasn't very pleased heD Em is an arkward sodG C And he said I had to cart themD G down the ladders in me hodG Well clearing all these bricks byD G hand it was so very slowC G So I hoisted up a barrel andD secured a rope belowC G But in me haste to do the job, ID Em was to blind to seeG C That a barrel full of buildingD G bricks was heavier than meContinúa después del anuncioG And so when I untied the rope theD G barrel fell like leadC G And clinging tightly to the rope ID started up insteadC G I shot up like a rocket, and to myD Em dismay I foundG C That halfway up I met the bloodyD G barrel coming downG Well the barrel broke me shoulderD G as to the ground it spedC G And when I reached the top ID banged the pulley with me headC G But I clung on tightly numb withD Em shock from this almighty blowG C While the barrel spilled out halfD it's bricks some fourteen floorsG belowG When these bricks had fallen fromD G the barrel to the floorC G I then outweighed the barrel andD so started down once moreC G But I clung on tightly to the ropeD Em me body racked with painG C And halfway down I met the bloodyD G barrel once againG Now the force of this collisionD G halfway down the office blockC G Caused multiple abrasions and aD nasty case of shockC G But I clung on tightly to the ropeD Em as I fell towards the groundG C And I landed on the broken bricksD G the barrel had scattered round.G Now as I lay there on the ground ID G thought I'd passed the worstC G But the barrel hit the pulleyD wheel and then the bottom burstC G A shower of bricks rained down onD Em me I didn't have a hopeG C As I lay there bleeding on theD G ground I let go of the bloody ropeG The barrel now being heavier soD G started down once moreC G It landed right across me as I layD there on the floorC G It broke three ribs and my leftD Em arm and I can only sayG C I hope you`ll understand why I amD G not at work today
