Darkness

Some of us wind up in shadow
Some of us wind up in shade
There are distinctions
In the darkness to be made
I have made welcome to darkness
When the light's focused in too tight
And said hello as if to a friend
When I should have picked a fight
Darkness with blues is
Different than darkness shared
The blue tones will make you lonely
And lonely leaves you scared
Right at the edge of consciousness
Black meets flickering red
Of the fires in the ruins
And a truth is left unsaid
We are all sparks in the darkness
And there is the oncoming night
Fool that I am I want to touch your wings
And try to make some light
Many of us live in a fog
The wire wizards made
Sucking up a string of electrons
From the screen where they are sprayed
