Everything

i looked at the sunset
low in the sky
i looked down the valley
a river run dry
i look all around me
and can't even see
the beauty surrounding everything

i left my home
when i was young
i never knew clearly
where i came from
but i didn't notice
i didn't blink
i just went out searching for everything

deep in the forest i found a clearing
i was afraid to let you in
then i heard you say all things they pass away
and i looked at the sky

i felt the virgin snow
fall on my face
and i thought about the time
you spoke of some grace
now there is a reason
for everything
even a robin sometimes
learns how to sing

but i didn't notice
i didn't blink
i just went out searching for everything
