Slow Serious

I'd never seen the ocean
Until that afternoon
The wind was bitter, icy
I promised we'd be leavin' soon

The gale picked me up
Startled from my perch I fly
I was sorta happy
Till I met the tide

Suddenly it was different
Kinda like in a dream
Very last thing I thought I heard
Was U begin 2 scream

It's so funny how things appear 2 be
When you're warm & safe at home

When you're in the middle of something real

I'd never flown an airplane
High across the skies
But one Wednesday I got my chance
When our pilot died

As I climbed into the cabin
I heard the attendant say
"It's just like riding a Big Wheel
Except...different...in a way"

When I sat down it shocked me
Not at all like on TV
Lots more knobs, wheels & switches
& no parachute left 4 me

I once thirsted on another planet
Which one is hard 2 tell
But if I had 2 draw it on a page
It'd look a lot like Hell

Lots of people with no faces
Begging 4 their cup
Sand spilled forth from our lips
& I could not wake up
