C G C D [Verse]
D The crowds were in the streets that
F day when Jesus came to town,
C All the synagogue was there and more
G from miles around.
D So I asked him home to dinner just
C to see what I could see
G of this famous local prophet from
A D here in Galilee. [Bridge]
C G And I don't know just how this
D woman got into the room.
C G But you couldn't miss her gaudy
A clothes and her strong and sweet perfume.
D She went straight to Jesus' feet
C and stopped and stood right there.
G Then cried and wet His feet with
A D tears and dried them with her hair. [Verse]
D F Now of all the women in my town none was so well known.
C For the flagrant sins she'd lived
G in and the wickedness she'd sown.
D But He didn't move to stop her, it
C seemed this prophet couldn't tell,
G That the woman who was touching Him
A D was the kind they buy and sell.

[Bridge]
C G And I had no idea just what this
D Jesus planned to do
C When he said "Simon, there's
G A something I need to say to you."
D So I said "Teacher, if it's on your
C mind then tell me what you will."
G But as He began to speak to me the
A D room grew quickly still. [Verse]
D He said "Take a good look at this
F woman now, in spite of all her fears,
C She's kissed me and anointed me,
G washed my feet with tears.
D She's honoured me and you've been
C only rude to me instead.
G You gave no kiss of greeting nor
A D anointing for my head." [Chorus]
C G Her sins were red as scarlet and now
D they're washed away.
C G The love and faith she's shown is
A all the price she has to pay.
D For the depth of God's forgiveness,
C it's more than you can see,
G And in spite of what you think of
A D her, she's beautiful to me." [Verse]
D Now my anger flamed to hatred, I
F wanted nothing more
C Than to take this prophet by the
G throat and throw Him out the door.
D To act like God, forgiving sins,
C and then speak so to me.
G This itinerant from Nazareth - in
A D backwords Galilee. [Bridge]
C G But instead I sat and trembled,
D shaken to the core.
C G The woman still was weeping as she
A knelt there on the floor.
D Jesus turned to her, said "Your
C chains have been released -
G Your faith has saved you from your
A D sins, rise - walk in peace." [Chorus x3]
C G Your sins were red as scarlet but
D now they're washed away.
C G The love and faith you've shown is
A all the price you have to pay.
D For the depth of God's forgiveness,
C it's deeper than the sea.
G And no matter what the world may
A D think, you're beautiful to me."
