I lay here for a moment
Just before I go to sleep,
And I can't stop the memories,
All those old feelings run deep.

I try to keep from thinking (you know I try...)
About the day you said goodbye.
But I can't seem to stop myself
It always makes me cry.

And then I always seem
To have the same old dream
With you lying next to me,
Just like you always used to be.

Oh, it seems so real it must be true.

But when I dream
How am I supposed to try to live
