G G6 Dear Sir, I write this note to youD G to tell you of me plightC G And at the time of writing, I amA7 D not a pretty sight;C G My body is all black and blue, myD Em face a deathly grayG Em And I write this note to say whyD7 G Paddy's not at work today [Verse 2]G G6 While working on the fourteenthD G floor some bricks I had to clear;C G Now, to throw them down from suchA7 D a height was not a good ideaC G The foreman wasn't very pleased,D Em he being an awkward sodG Em He said I'd have to cart them downD7 G the ladders in me hod [Verse 3]G G6 Now, clearing all these bricks byD G hand it was so very slowC G A7 So I hoisted up a barrel andD secured the rope belowC G D But in me haste to do the job IEm was to blind to seeContinúa después del anuncioG Em That a barrelful of buildingD7 G bricks was heavier than me [Verse 4]G G6 D So when I untied the rope theG barrel fell like leadC G And clinging tightly to the rope IA7 D started up insteadC G Well, I shot up like a rocket tillD Em to my dismay I foundG Em That halfway up I met the bloodyD7 G barrel comming down [Verse 5]G G6 Well, the barrel broke me shoulderD G as to the ground it spedC G And when I reached the top IA7 D banged the pully with my headC Well, I clung on tight throughG D Em numbed shock from this almighty blowG Em And the barrel spilled out halfD7 G the bricks fourteen floors below [Verse 6]G G6 Now, when these bricks had fallenD G from the barrel to the floorC G I then outweighed the barrel andA7 D so started down once more;C G Still clinging tightly to theD Em rope, I sped towards the groundG Em And I landed on the brocken bricksD7 G that were all scattered round [Verse 7]G G6 Well, I lay there groaning on theD ground, I thought I'd passed theG worstC G When the barrel hit theA7 D pully-wheel and then the bottom burstC G Well, a shower of bricks rainedD Em down on me, I hadn't got a hopeG Em As I lay there moaning on theD7 G ground, I let go of the bloody rope [Verse 8]G G6 The barrel than being heavier, itD G started down once moreC G And landed right across me, as IA7 D lay upon the floorC G Well, it broke three ribs and myD Em left arm and I can only sayG Em That I hope you'll understand whyD7 G Paddy's not at work today
