Seven Abominations

I looked upon a broken world
And cursed the evil that I saw
The violence, greed and hatred
The way men chose to break your laws

I spoke of all the wicked ones
The liars hiding in the dark
But when I stood before the mirror
I found their shadow in my heart

I thought the problem lived in them
Far away from where I stand
But the deeper that I searched my soul
The more I saw it in myself

A haughty look, a lying tongue
Hands that hurt the innocent
A heart that plots what isn't right
Feet that run toward evil things

A false witness speaking lies
A voice that tears a home apart
I knew these words were written down
Yet never thought they'd mark my heart

The courtroom of my conscience
Had no defense to give
Every accusation spoke the truth
About the way I've lived
