Winter

As I stand inside this lonely prison
In the jail of the pale cold season
Behold these drab gloomy sights
The dreams that roam and fade into the night!

Let me fly away, to a warm and safe place
Or let me hibernate, through these mournful days!
Let me save, a glimmer of faith
Or let it fade away, in the smothering embrace
Of this winter haze!

There’s a tree with no leaves out there in the yard
Not as dead as the joy in my heart
The cold froze the hands of the clock
