Hard Times

She reads all the ads in the paper each day
And dreams about how it will be
Taking vacations and buying new clothes
When the hard times are over for me

She sets the table and sings in the kitchen
Believing we'll make it some day
And if that's all it took was believing and love
The hard times would all go away.

When the hard times are over I'm gonna show her
The good times she dreams of today
She'll keep us together until things get better
The hard times won't stand in her way.

Sometimes she gets up alone in the night
When the kids have all fallen asleep
And I know she cries over things they can't have
Till the hard times are over for me.

So I'll keep on trying that's all I can do
Taking each step as it comes
Making the most of whatever we have
