Cigarette burns on the sill
The morning air is cold and still
You left your scent upon my shirt
A gentle kind of familiar hurt
Another Tuesday coming dawn
Still trying to just carry on
Got this ashtray for a heart
Been full up right from the start

Little pieces flicked away
Hoping for a brighter day
But it just keeps collecting dust
And a whole lot of broken trust
Remember laughing in the park
Making wishes in the dark
Thought we had it figured out
No room for any kind of doubt

Now the silence screams so loud
Lost you somewhere in the crowd
Got this ashtray for a heart
