Three Little Rooms

You can throw your fruit away if you really want to
You can smush the spiders on the ceilings and walls
I will mend the rope so you can crawl up the sand dune
We can sit for still minutes in silent repose
You can do those things that will make you feel comfortable
Harmless peccadilloes, little foibles and flaws
I will find a house where you can look at the sea shore
3 little rooms - and a space of your own

You can live in disregard of all the rules they wrote you
You can settle quiet in a life on your terms
I will mend the chimney where the hole's letting the rain through
Blessed are the readers - throw the TV away
You can build a city, you can write if you want to
Craft cunning creations you can sell on etsy
I will find a home where you can still smell the sea air
You can paint the colours on the walls as you please

It's a cheap play holding the light - fool!
Grin fine, flailing for fortune breaks
Had a kite full of giving it sober
Not least for these hated remains

You can read the paper when you wake if I'm snoring
Tell prescient reflections on the news of the day
I will make you eggs on homemade bread every morning
Those ordinary treasure chests still holding sway
