As Always

I look at the smile in the picture, but it’s not a memory, it’s a stranger to me
Before I was dealt this arrangement, I lived in a lucid world, adolescent belief

Alone I am weak to the breakers, they bring every column down in a reckless desire
& when they drift away, they cover my face in a shadowed veil
And leave me where I lay

I sink into the mist to calm myself
I listen to the doom
A ritual I hold, but I still doubt what’s really happening
Yeah I doubt that I could change a thing
