Under Fading Lights

Long ago I was wiser than them all
Brightest among my peers, of any age
Master of fine arts and numbers and ideals
Source of good advice and common sense and clear foresight

My mind soon went gray, slow and patiently
Who’s this stranger reflected in the looking glass?
Oh why my good Lord have you abandoned me?
Tragic ending of a story full of greatness and pride

Under fading lights I’ll drown in peace
In the silent waves of madness I’m released
The eternal dark awaits my soul
