Path of Attrition

Just a man, mortal, alone in his pride
standing before the gate
Barbed implements affright,
daunting meek souls
draining all courage

How many ages have they stood
beyond counting
eternal obsticle
barrier to overman

One false step, join the heaped bones
scattered round the gates
withered by fear of their presence
as so many died before

So many lies embelished...

Every nameless fear
each cry in the dark
every moment of weakness
issue forth from these obsidian gates

Maligned centre of distrubance
legacy of fore is contained
shadows of blackness conceal us
from a world in ultimate pain

The reddest rage
The blackest hate
Spawned in the world
beyond the gate

Rising to his feet
defying all their agless might
Passing through the fear
undaunted under iron skies

Writhing in contrition
portal of opression
hinges of suffering grind open
still the fist is raised
still the anger boils
still he screams defiance
Onward!
