The Mental Matrix

When life became nothing but emptiness
The soul withdrew into loneliness
Darkened thoughts spreading nothingness
Mankind prevailed by unconsciousness

Just blindly following impure instincts
Benighted spirits controlling the mental matrix
In which vestiges of insane existence lay ablazed
Suffering's divine remedy for our impurities

For when the horizon swept away
The faintest glimmer of hope into weeping infinity
No escape from the constant haunting

Captured by the ephemeral illusion
Henceforth a dream turns to a tragedy

Entire frenzy, appaled masquerade
Distress, despair, silence
Obsession, depression, violence
Left no hope to a single wish
