A Good Laugh With Death

I'm having a good laugh with Death
He's funnier than I would have guessed
The black cloak was once intimidating
But when I smiled, He smiled back at m
So I'm having a good laugh with Death
As He prepares me for my last breath
What choice do I have while I'm alive?
I can only laugh or cry

We look at still frames of my life
They were just scenes of wasted time
I won't feel that pain again
There'll be no sign of a bitter end

I'm having a good laugh with Death
He tells me not to fear this rest
And another little secret line
He says I'll understand in time

He says "I laugh at the men with hate
I laugh when they speak:
When they act for their own sake
I laugh when they repeat childhood mistakes
I laugh when they are caught on worldly bait
I asked what else amuses Him
He looked at me with a childlike grin
And said "When you forget your true nature
You're wrapping yourself around my finger"

We look at still frames of my life
For so long now I have been blind
But I won't feel that pain again
I feel like I've been born again
