House On The Hill

Last night I went back to the house on the hill
Where we were so happy together
As I walked through the door mem'ries came at me
Like sea shells coming into the shore

There were ashes in the fireplace from the fire that I built
On the night that you told me goodbye
Two glasses on the table brought back the hurt
And the mem'ries of tears that I've cried

As I walked up the stairs that lead to the room
Where we used to share love together
Old slippers by the bed a book that you read
Still linger to remind me of you

Oh that house on the hill where we used to live
Where we dreamed such closely together
It's so empty and bare only mem'ries live there
In the house lonely house on the hill
In that house we used to live
