Basilisk

She searched for a Basilisk all through the seasons
She hunted him down but for all the wrong reasons
She'd thought up a plan that she felt was quite clever
A way her great beauty could live on forever

The Basilisk watches and waits the right hour
To claim you forever with his awesome power

She sought from the mountains clear down to the seaside
The closer she came the more cleverly she'd hide
but when she despaired and was weeping quite blindly
She met a young princeling who treated her kindly

She soon fell in love and gave up her brash scheming
They spent all their days lost in planning and dreaming
She hid in the wood as a game so he'd find her
She turned and saw Basilisk standing behind her

And when the young lordling came seeking his lady
(All) Through the dark branches so peaceful and shady
He stopped in a clearing forlorn and alone
To stare in surprise at a lady of stone
