Charlotte Fever

It was on the 12th of April when I felt the fever hit
I was standing in the California sun
And almost before I knew I was burning up within
And I knew that there was nothing could be done
Except to pack my things and polish up my thumb

I can smell the Smoky Mountains and the wind

Till I'm back where my heart as always been

It was snowing when I left her on a cold November day
And I felt as though the world had let me down
But I sobered up and realized two thousand miles away
It was broken hearts and pride that made me frown
And I couldn't blame a thing upon the town
