Dark Souls

Like a bolt of lightning
Racing across the sky, casting its light
On things that laid so long concealed for mortal eyes
It all comes back to me now
The souls dwelling in darkness
My function in the chain of history
I have a name

This mind belongs to me now
You chased away the remnants of the soul
That owned this body when I placed the fatal mark
We're two souls lost in darkness
Facing all the violence of the world
That looks upon us with its god forsaken eyes

And now they're at my doorstep
The fire of their torches cast a red glow on the walls
Breaking down the windows
With hatred in their eyes
And the curtains burn
Smoke rushes across the ceiling

So take my hand and run now
You may remember how we ran so many times before
From the marching crowds of madness
From the pounding killing floor
From the curse in me
From the distant cries of terror
