(could've Said) I Told You So

Could've said i told you so
You would never listen though
I tried to tell you once or twice
You would never take advice (from me)

I woke up this morning and much to my surprise
A letter on her pillow said she found some other guy
I thought i was dreamin'
I thought that she cared
But when i looked around the room
She wasn't anywhere

I didn't know she'd got her things together
I didn't know she had a heart of ice
And now my friends admit they knew about her
I guess i should have followed their advice...

The letter said,
"i'm sorry. i guess i'll never learn.
I found myself another man with lots of cash to burn.
It may not last forever, but right up to that day,
He's gonna be my band of gold until i walk away."

And now i've got to get myself together didn't know she had a heart of ice
'cause now my friends admit they knew about her
Guess i should have followed their advice...
I'm gonna find someone whose heart is in their soul
Not just a pretty face that leaves me in the cold
Someone who really needs me like needed her
And if she should ever call, i'll be the one who has it all
