That's Why Jesus Came

In my desire for righteousness
I turned my heart into a fortress
Built higher walls with no drawbridge
I grabbed my sword and I clenched my fists

Oh fear divides and separates
And as wisdom often masquerades
But Jesus comes and violates
Every kingdom built to isolate

I thought my whole life
There was just a pull from one side
A dark attempt to see me compromise
Then religion told me to be holy
With a burden on my shoulders
Though meaning well still gave me hell

The roads are wide on both sides
But that's why Jesus came

As bombs go off on my left and right
