Thorny Sunflowers

Once they told me nothing grows up in a soil
Where the earth is dry and lacks any vital nutrient
Where the land suffers from a lasting punishment
When i least expected there i saw a seedling
With some yellow petals blooming just to live a brand new day
When the things may not be as dark as yesterday
Thorny sunflowers
This is how they go
Maybe not so glad
Maybe not so pure
But yet still staring at the sun
Yet still looking at the bright side
Once they told me life will make you a bad person
Sometimes you may hurt someone to make sure you’re still safe
And that’s when you’ll feel for sure the hope has gone away
When i least expected there i met a florist
He said it’s a coward world and those bastards won’t feel shame
But there’s a thin line to cross where you become like them
