Too Many Stars

I see thousands of twinkling stars in the midnight sky
Sure they are beautiful, up above the world so high
But I start to wonder what I am supposed to do
There are way too many stars here in my view
How do I know which one was the first to appear?
How do I know that wishing on stars will diminish my tears?

How can I decide on one before the coming of dawn?
Must I wish on every single star in just one night?
Will just one wish make everything turn out right?

If I must I will wish on every single star I see
I will close my eyes and wish while I am on my knees
As long as I know that one day you will arrive
Then I will wish upon stars for as long as I am alive
